Charity
We are proud to have partnered with three local charities; St David's Hospice, Sparkle Appeal and Newport Mind.
We are keen to give back to the local community and believe that this initiative is a great way to support charities that are close to our hearts. A donation is made each time a customer sells or lets their property with us on our standard fee.
In 2018 we also entered into a partnership with our local and highly regarded primary school Glan Usk, we actively support and sponsor school events to raise funds for educational items. We also promote and donate regularly to the schools food bank.
Our partner charities have explained what this partnership means to them:
St David's Hospice
Tania Ansell, of Newport-based St David’s Hospice Care said: “We’re very pleased to be partnering with Bluestone and that they have chosen St David’s Hospice Care as its charity of choice. St David’s Hospice Care is committed to providing bespoke, individual free care for all our patients and their families. We work alongside patients and hope to support them at the most difficult times of their lives. We aim to ensure that patients have choice about the care they receive whilst maintaining dignity throughout their journey which is paramount to us.”
“We are extremely grateful for all the fundraising support that we get to help to continue to provide these services free to patients and their families throughout our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Naturally the cost of providing such high levels of care does have financial implications for the charity. It costs St David’s Hospice Care more than £7.5 million each year to provide our services. The charity’s income is generated in various ways for example we have 38 charity shops, we have a weekly lottery, we apply for grant funding as well organising and facilitating many fundraising events throughout the year.”
Sparkle Appeal
"Sparkle is delighted to be partnering with Bluestone. We support over 300 children a week, with a disability and/or developmental difficulty and their families. We have to raise more than £400,000 every year to fund the vital services we support. This is only possible thanks to the very generous donations and help of the general public. We hope that our relationship with Bluestone will continue for years to come”. Seren Harbon, Fundraising and Events Officer”
Newport Mind
"Newport Mind is a mental health charity providing a range of services to the people of Newport is part of the network of local Mind associations across England and Wales. Newport Mind believes that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Today. Now. We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
The partnership with Bluestone raises awareness of mental health and the work that Newport Mind does with the added bonus of raising much needed money to support the work of Newport Mind. £50 covers the cost for one person with mental health problems to attend one of the many self-management courses Newport Mind runs such as understanding anxiety or dealing with depression. It could cover the cost of someone attending a Newport Mind wellbeing or activity groups, such as walking, writing or art group or one of the women’s or men’s wellbeing groups. Thank you for choosing Newport Mind” Abbey Rowe – Community Wellbeing Worker
Glan Usk Primary School
"Glan Usk Primary School are proud to work with Bluestone . As a school, we feel strongly about working with local businesses within the community and we have formed positive relationships with the staff at Bluestone. Our families, children and staff have benefitted from this relationship, from sponsorships of our Christmas fayres and competitions to providing items for our clothing and foodbank."
